After a long winter so want to get enough vitamins. Fresh vegetables and fruits grown in their own area are guaranteed to help replenish the vitamin reserve. A fresh cucumber, its unique aroma, already this only raises a mood to a person, tired of winter avitaminosis.

But do not run to the nearest supermarket. There are no such vegetables there. It is better to wait and grow your own cucumber. There are varieties that are distinguished by a rapid ripening period. One of them is a variety of cucumbers of zozul, which gives the first harvest on the 45th day after planting.

Characteristic varieties of cucumbers zozulya

Corners zozulya - this is an early variety of cucumbers. It is distinguished by its small size, high yield, distinctive taste and resistance to diseases. But these are not all the positive aspects that characterize this type of precocious cucumbers. Description varieties of cucumbers zozulya can not be verbose, it is a very early form, bringing a rich harvest.

In addition to all the distinctive data, this variety has a pleasant taste, rich aroma, thin skin. The first fruits that appear on the bushes are quite impressive in the period of their full maturity.

Normal and suitable for consumption can be called a cucumber, whose length is not more than 22 centimeters and weight - not more than 300 grams. Such parameters make it possible to understand that the cucumbers are quite long.

In appearance, this variety is distinguished by barely noticeable white stripes on the skin, a small number of tubercles. A distinctive feature is high yield. So, from one bush can collect up to twelve kilograms of cucumbers. Unpretentious and stable, it is great for growing not only in open field.

Good yields are harvested in greenhouses, even on windowsills and balconies, under optimally acceptable conditions. Can be planted with seeds or seedlings.

Zozul cucumber f1 cultivation: rules and subtleties

This type of cucumber has distinctive characteristics. He is not whimsical in cultivation, does not require much painstaking care, resistant to many diseases. Sowing cucumbers can be done in the open field, it is suitable for greenhouses. Suitable planting seeds in the ground or seedlings.

For sowing in both ways, preliminary soil preparation is required. It should be light, enriched with humus soil, where there is no stagnation of water, which is fraught with rotting of the root system. Pre-prepared seeds are planted in the wells to a depth of no more than two centimeters.

Maintain the distance between each hole on the length of the palm. The distance between the rows should not be less than 60 centimeters. When planting seedlings, the distance between the seedlings can be increased to 50 centimeters. Sowing seeds to carry out in the period when the threat of frost has passed. Mid-April is the most suitable period.

Seed preparation

Before planting, both in the ground and for seedlings, the seeds must be prepared. Although this variety can be planted directly into the ground in a dry form. Seeds are pre-calibrated. Suspicious ones that differ in size should be discarded.

Prepare a weak solution of potassium permanganate. The color should be pinkish, lower selected seeds into it for about thirty minutes. Further seeds can be planted, but it is better to germinate them a little. For this, gauze moistened with settled water is placed on a saucer and seeds are laid on top of it. This method will provide an opportunity to see the seeds that are suitable for planting.

Gauze should not dry out, but it is also contraindicated to cover seeds with water. After 3-4 days in each healthy seed sprout appears. This is the time when they can be planted in the manner described above or in prepared containers for seedlings.

Growing seedlings

You can grow seedlings directly on the site or in special containers.

Important! Landing in the ground to carry out at a time when the earth is already warm enough and the temperature of the soil is not lower than 15 degrees.

Forgiven or not germinated seeds are planted in containers. One capacity for one seed. Ensure that the soil is constantly moist, loosened. Tamped after disembarking is not recommended.

After three leaves appear on the surface of the earth, the seedlings can be planted in the ground, maintaining the above scheme. The landing should be carried out together with the land in which the seedlings grew.

After planting, each plant can be covered with a cut off plastic bottle with the cap removed. This creates a microclimate, increases the degree of survival. You can remove the bottle after a few days, when it will be obvious that the seedlings have taken root.

Secrets of growth and yield

The first secret lies in the right place for planting seeds or seedlings. It should be a well-lit area. Shaded areas may affect yield. It is best to plant in the place where last year grew:

For disembarking choose a sunny warm day. This is best done in the late afternoon, in the late afternoon. After disembarking, pour over the separated but not cold water. It is necessary to pour so as not to overwet the soil.

To get a good harvest, water cucumbers preferably daily at the same time. Do not forget to loosen the soil and feed the plant. Zozulya doesn’t need any special dressing, if planted in a previously prepared soil.

If the appearance is suspicious, then you can feed the plant. So it signals what it lacks.

As already mentioned, the care for Zozulya is simple and does not require much time and money.

  1. The soil between the bushes and rows must be weeded, clean weeds, water only with settled water. Rain and plumbing is not suitable.
  2. When the first three full-fledged leaves appear, prepare a support for tying.
  3. Watering is carried out regularly. For a young bush, at least half a liter of water is daily, for an adult plant - 1 liter.
  4. Top dressing to carry out mineral or organic fertilizers. Apply once after planting, during flowering and during fruiting. Before flowering can be watered a couple of times a week, during flowering and fruiting every other day, in arid climate — daily. Spray the foliage with water.
  5. Every 3-5 days to harvest, during the fruiting period.
  6. Control the symptoms of diseases, and carry out methods to combat them.

Do not delay on the bushes too much harvest. The more often and more it will gather, the more incentive the plant receives for the next development of the fruit.

Disease symptoms and control methods

This is one of the few varieties that do not require an abundance of fertilizers. He practically does not require feeding. But if symptoms of diseases are visible, it means that the soil was prepared incorrectly.

  1. White spots on the foliage indicate a possible powdery mildew infection. In this case, it is necessary to process from the sprayer a solution with a fungicide.
  2. Brown spots appeared on the leaves, it is likely that the plant is infected with anthracnose. Bordeaux mixture and fertilizing with organic fertilizers is the best type of disease control.
  3. Aphid. From this scourge will help the solution of the Bordeaux mixture.

These are the main, few types of lesions, which confirmed this variety. But every gardener knows that to fight almost every pest or disease Bordeaux mixture is the most effective means.

Such solutions can be processed leaves, stems, the ground near the horse. At the heart of the mixture is copper sulphate. Preparing it yourself is a snap. This is a solution of copper sulphate and lime.

Each package of finished dry powder, which is sold in retail chains, contains 300 grams of copper sulfate and 400 grams of lime. Ten liters of water to process cucumbers, and other plants, need 100 grams of this mixture.

After preparing the slurry, the volume is increased by five liters. Then spend prophylactic or therapeutic treatment. Harmful fruits and threats to human health, such treatment does not constitute. This is a recipe that has been tested for centuries. Greater yields to you!

Variety description

Hybrid "Zozulya-f1" has a high yield and has a massive return of fruit in the first month of fruiting. Parthenocarpic type of pollination and early return of the crop make this hybrid very popular among gardeners in Russia. The collected fruits are successfully used in salting and canning, and are also very good in salads.

The fruits have excellent commodity and taste. The length of the fruit reaches 20 cm with a mass of 195 g. The surface of the cylindrical in shape of the fruit is rarely tuberculate, dark green. The flesh is dense, crunchy, has no bitterness, with a pronounced aroma. The pubescence of the fruit is rare, complex, white.

Bushes are massive, medium-sized, with bunched ovaries in the sinuses. The hybrid is disease-resistant and is almost not affected by olive blotch and cucumber mosaic virus, but is susceptible to damage to white and root rot.

The main advantages of the hybrid form include high yields, which, with proper care, can reach 16 kg / m², as well as very early and consistent fruiting, in which the first fruits can be harvested approximately 46-48 days after seed germination. It is also possible to universally use ripe fruit.

Seed preparation

Before sowing, seed should be calibrated, and then soaked for several hours in a special composition, represented by a liter of warm water with the addition of 1 tbsp. l nitroammofoski and 1 tbsp. l wood ash. A sufficiently high germination rate is also observed when sowing dry seeds directly into the ground. Many hybrid seeds do not require pre-sowing treatment and warm-up procedures.

Sowing seeds

It is possible to grow cucumbers in both seedling and seedless ways. Sowing seeds for growing seedlings is carried out in special peat pots. Sowing seed directly on the ridge can be carried out by tape or ordinary methods.

For seeding, it is recommended to use light and humus-rich soils in which no stagnation of water is observed. Depending on the type of soil, the depth of the seeds may vary from 1.5 to 2 cm. It is recommended to sow the seeds after the threat of late spring frosts, to the soil that is well heated in the sun.

Seedling care

During the cultivation of seedlings hybrid cucumbers should be aware of several important points for the care of plants:

  • watering cucumber seedlings should be done every 1-2 days and make sure that the soil in the growing tank does not dry out,
  • Separated tap water at room temperature is used for irrigation,
  • a couple of times a month growing seedlings, it is advisable to feed the urea solution,
  • air temperature when growing seedlings should be in the daytime 21-23 ° C, and at night - no more than 18-20 ° C,
  • Additional lighting of cucumber seedlings with fluorescent lamps can be used in cloudy weather.

Young plants require protection from drafts and overcooling of the root system. Before transplanting is hardening plants. In early May, seedlings should be carefully transplanted to the ridges under the film cover.

Transfer to ridges

Excellent precursors for this vegetable crop will be legumes, onions, cabbage, potatoes, and tomatoes. Before planting seedlings it is useful to treat the ridges with phytosporin solution. When growing cucumbers on the ridges of open ground, seedlings should be planted in a permanent place on the warmest day.

Planted plants should be covered with a film in one layer, and when the temperature is lowered, an additional coating is used on top of the film. Before planting seedlings should be dug on the ridges of the hole and plenty of water to pour each hole, while you must first make rotted manure or compost. The plantation of planting seedlings 50x30 cm.

Care features

Early hybrid "Zozulya-f1", with partial parthenocarpy, needs proper care. If the optimum temperature for seed germination is 25-30 ° C, then for proper growth and proper development of plants, the temperature should be maintained at 25-28 ° С, and a number of requirements should be observed:

  • a surplus of fertilizers, overdrying of the soil, too high air temperature, shading and drafts - all this greatly reduces the number of ovaries,
  • before flowering, it is sufficiently moderate to water the plants once every 4-5 days, and during the formation of ovaries it is recommended to moisten the soil with warm water every 2-3 days,
  • as plants develop, the roots may be exposed, and in the process of loosening, hilling should be carried out, which enhances the growth of the root system and has a positive effect on productivity,
  • nipping the main shoot stimulates the growth and development of all the lateral branches that will be involved in the fruit formation process,
  • in order to facilitate the process of caring for plants and to improve the development of cucumber bushes, it is recommended to install special lanes on which the lash is placed,
  • even before mass flowering, it is desirable to have a foliar top dressing using urea solution,
  • good effect has the use of a nutrient solution based on manure, mineral water and the drug "Uniflor-micro".

Characteristic variety

Zozul's cucumbers have been grown since 1977, they have been fallen in love with gardeners because of the ease of cultivation and the quick return of the crop. It is possible to collect the first cucumbers in 45-50 days after planting, at first they grow up to 20 cm in size, weighing up to 300 grams (three times more than Herman cucumber).

The outer color is in dark green shades, with a slight tuberculation of the skin, strips of a lighter color with small spikes are noticeable throughout the fruit.

The variety can be self-pollinating, but the best yield is achieved when the flowers are pollinated by bees. Seeds of self-pollinated cucumbers for greenhouse or open ground can be purchased in any specialized stores.

You can harvest up to 12 kg of fresh cucumbers in 30 days for proper agrotechnology and timely feeding, and then after the ripening of all the ovaries, the crop reaches about 20 kg from one square meter.

But what are the best seeds of cucumber for the greenhouse, and how to plant them correctly, is indicated here.

The variety grows well in a variety of conditions - in greenhouses and greenhouses, in the open field and in winter on the windowsill.

On the video - a description of the variety of cucumber:

Description of cucumbers Zozulya f1

Consider the description of cucumbers Zozulya better start with the characteristics of the variety. Initially, the culture was bred specifically for growing in greenhouses equipped with a heating system and irrigation. However, such conditions must be created in the northern regions or for the cultivation of cucumber in the winter. Simple gardeners of the middle lane and other not very cold areas can grow the variety Sozulu f1 in self-made greenhouses. In the south, cucumber fruits in the open.

The variety is considered parthenocarpic. Peduncles self-pollinated without insects. The bush grows sprawling. The average length of the cucumber Zozulya fence varies within 1 m. The stems are tied to a trellis. Cucumbers creeping on the ground are not grown. Scourge tend to grow rapidly. Peduncles are formed in groups in the axils of the foliage, the ovary appears in bunches.

The plant does not require a pinching, as the length of the stem of cucumber Zozulya and lateral shoots is enough for fruiting. There is no extra wicker and thick foliage in the bush. Like all greenhouse varieties, the Zozulya f1 hybrid grows normally in shading. The cucumber has a rather large foliage of a saturated green color.

Fruit Description

Conducting a review of the characteristics and descriptions of the cucumber variety Zozulya, it is worthwhile to dwell on the main heritage of the culture - the fruits. Cucumbers grow elongated. The length of the fruit varies from 14 to 24 cm. The mass of cucumbers from 150 to 300 g. Fruits usually grow flat, cylindrical in shape. Occasionally, a slight bend may be observed in individual cucumbers.

The skin of the fruit is dark green, thin. On the surface of the cucumber there are small grooves and rare small pimples. The flesh is tender, juicy, not friable. Small grains are located in the center of the fruit and are not felt when chewing. Cucumbers hang in bunches on the bushes, do not outgrow, they keep their presentation for a long time after harvesting.

Yield and fruiting

Hybrid variety Zozulya f1 is considered an early ripe crop. The ovary appears about 48 days after seed germination. The first wave of the harvest is small. From 1 m 2 collect up to 16 kg of fruit. A month later, the culture increases the speed of fruiting. The yield of the following Zozulya varieties of waves exceeds 20 kg per 1 m 2 of bed.

Application area

Zozulya f1 is considered a variety of cucumber salad direction. The fruits are eaten fresh, used to decorate sandwiches, making vitamin salads. For the preservation of cucumber is not suitable. It is undesirable to use vegetable in salting, the pulp of a cucumber becomes soft and tasteless.

For the cultivation of cucumber, two methods are applicable: sowing the grains in the ground and the seedling method. With the seedlings things are more complicated, but the grower gets the opportunity to harvest an earlier harvest.

Planting seedlings

To grow a good harvest Zozuli, you need to learn one rule. The early seedlings at planting will freeze, and the later ones will delay the dates of the beginning of fruiting. Before sowing the seeds, it is necessary to calculate the timing of planting future seedlings, but they depend on the type of greenhouse:

  • seedlings are planted in heated greenhouses from the first days of March,
  • In a cold greenhouse of film or glass, planting of seedlings begins in mid-May.

From this data, count down to 3 weeks, maximum 1 month. It is during this time that the cucumber seedlings reach optimum condition.

The window will grow about 10-15 plants. For seedlings of cucumber varieties Zozulya use peat pots or plastic glasses with a volume of 250 ml. The process consists of the following actions:

  • On the surface of the wet ground in each cup put 2 cucumber seeds.
  • Grains are covered with a layer of soil up to 2 cm thick. Crops are watered with warm water from a sprayer. Glasses put on the windowsill, covered with foil. The room temperature is maintained from 25 to 28 o C.
  • Approximately in a week the first shoots will appear. In the pot you need to leave only one plant. If two grains sprouted, remove a weak sprout. The film cover is removed, and the air temperature is lowered to 18 ° C at night and 24 ° C in the afternoon.

Care for cucumber seedlings Zozuli is simple. Plants are watered, equipped with additional lighting lamps. If necessary, you can feed once.

After 3-4 weeks, adult plants are transplanted into a greenhouse. Variety Zozulya forms large bushes, and for their development requires free space. Plants are planted in rows, maintaining a distance between the holes of 25 cm. The aisles are made at least 40 cm wide.

Growing cucumbers in a seedless way

In order to get good seedlings, the soil in the greenhouse should warm up to at least +12 o C, and the air temperature should be around + 15 o C. In most regions, such conditions begin on April 20th. In such a simple way determine the timing of sowing seeds cucumber varieties Zozulya.

A place for a greenhouse is chosen on a flat area, sunny, away from trees, so that the air and the soil warms up faster. Soil preparation consists of mixing 5 parts of peat, 2 parts of black soil and 3 parts of compost. The finished substrate is placed on beds 20 cm thick. Before sowing the seeds of cucumber Zozuli, the soil is poured from a watering can with hot water, dissolved in 10 l of 3 g of manganese.

Store seeds are sold often pickled, they must be awakened only before planting. Cucumber seeds are kept for about 3 days in a wet gauze until sprouts hatch. To speed up the process, the seeds are kept warm.

Spitting sprouts signals the beginning of the landing. In the garden make the hole, mix a handful of compost, 0.5 tsp. superphosphate, as well as potassium salt. The hole is watered with 500 ml of warm water. After soaking up the liquid, put three seeds of Zozul cucumber, sprinkle it on top with loose soil. From the grown sprouts leave the strongest, the rest are removed.

Cucumber aftercare

The main care for the variety of cucumbers Zozulya is watering, feeding, tying lashes to the trellis. Inside the greenhouse equip a good lighting. The air temperature is preferably maintained within +25 o C. The soil is needed wet, but without stagnant water. After watering, soil is loosened under bushes. The frequency of watering before flowering - 1 time in 4 days. When the ovary begins to appear, cucumbers of the variety Zozulya are watered every other day.

Feeding is carried out with ash at the rate of 0.5 cups per 1 bush. When revealing the bare roots make adding soil. Before flowering, cucumbers are fed with urea. The solution is prepared from 10 liters of water and 1 tbsp. l fertilizer. You can feed under the root or by spraying the aerial part. With the advent of the ovary in the dressing include a mullein infusion. A solution of 1 part of the slurry and 10 parts of water in the amount of 1 l is poured under the root.

After a month and a half, the first crop of Zozulya cucumbers is harvested. Frequent collection prolongs the period of fruiting culture. Fruits optimally plucked every other day, maximum after three days.

Growing cucumbers Zozulya in open ground

In the southern regions, the hybrid variety Zozulya is successfully cultivated on the street. The beds are located on a sunny plot, but shading must be present. Optimally located planting near the plantation of corn.

Sowing begins when the ground warms up to +15 o C. On the garden, grooves are made 4 cm deep. Seeds are placed at intervals of 10 cm, and spacing is made 70 cm wide. Since the Zozulya variety is early, the sowing can be divided into several periods with an interval of 1 week . This method allows you to stretch the time of harvest. Care for Zozulya in the open field is no different from the procedures carried out during the greenhouse cultivation. The only addition if cold nights are observed, the plants are covered with agrofibre.
